Summer is one of the most enjoyable seasons of the year for this is the time when you can do a lot of activities under the sun. Volleyball is a known team sport that requires good stamina and endurance. It promotes healthier lifestyle since it is a good cardio exercise. Now, if you want to know about the things you buy so you can start playing volleyball, just continue reading because in this article, I’ll be sharing you the checklist for summer volleyball and I will also be giving you tips for a safer and secure game.

Things to Buy

Volleyball is not an expensive sport; it only needs three important equipments. Once you have them, you’re good to go:

  1. Ball – The type of ball that is used on volleyball varies on where you are playing and who you are playing with. There are two different places where you can play volleyball, on the beach (outdoor), and indoor (like gym, court, etc.). For Beach Volleyball, you will need a larger yet lighter ball, while for indoor you will need a heavier and faster volleyball ball which is made of leather.

  1. Volleyball NetVolleyball nets serve as the dividend of the court. The official or the most common measurement of the outdoor net is 384 inches by width and 39 inches of height. However, it always depends on your preferred measurement. If you do not have a wider space, then it is also possible to request any size of volleyball net you want.

  1. Poles – Poles support the net on a volleyball court which stands around 8 feet and 4 inches tall. However, the height of the poles might also depend on the customer’s preference. There are also two different kinds of poles offered in the market. The Indoor volleyball poles and the outdoor volleyball poles.

Safety Measures

Additional equipment you might want to use for your safety is the Knee Pads. Once you’ve have everything you need, you can start playing. To make sure that the game keeps everyone safe, it’s better if you keep the following tips in mind, too.

  1. Wear protective gear like knee pads, elbow pads, etc. Playing volleyball is tough, especially if you’re playing indoors because most of the gyms or volleyball courts have rough floors. Knee pads protect your knees from unexpected injuries that might happen during the game.

  2. Wear proper sports attire (shoes, comfortable clothes), especially if you’re playing indoor volleyball.

  3. Avoid wearing accessories that might cause you harm like bracelet and watch.

  4. Be particular of your body position when serving, passing and spiking to avoid unnecessary physical injury.

  5. Lastly, don’t forget to have fun and enjoy the game.
