There’s no denying the fact that pores perform a vital function for the skin – they produce those natural oils which help keep our skin smooth and hydrated. Toxins come out through the pores as well, and through the pores, your skin can breathe. But, more often than not, pores can be a problem, expanding at will and becoming dilated or clogged. If you have skin that’s genetically oily, then you know exactly what we mean. Tired of open pores? Here are some natural ways to close those pesky pores.
Almond paste for pores
Almonds work well at closing up those pores, and this remedy is also easy to prepare. Simply crush a few almonds (about 5 to 6) and add some lemon juice drops to the crushed almonds until a paste is formed. Apply the paste to your skin and leave it on for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Then rinse it away using cold water.
Ice is your friend
If you are looking for an on-the-spot remedy on how to close pores, ice is your friend. Use an ice cube for about 10 seconds to rub and clean your face about two times a day. The ice acts as a toner and helps stimulate blood flow as well. If you have sinusitis, however, don’t use the ice remedy.
The olive oil and sugar natural scrub
To make this open or clogged pore cure, just mix two tablespoons of sugar with a tablespoon of olive oil. Squeeze a lemon over the mix until it becomes a paste. Rub this mixture over your skin in a circular motion for about 30 seconds, then rinse it away with cold water. Do this every week, and you’ll definitely notice some great results.
Egg whites for the face
If you’ve heard of using egg whites to make hair shinier, then you’ll be happy to know that they can be used for closing up the pores as well. Egg whites are rich in amino acids, and this can rejuvenate and refresh the skin as well as close up the pores. Simply apply some egg whites to your face, then cover your face with some tissue paper. This ‘mask’ will dry up in a few minutes. Once it’s dry, just peel the tissue paper off.
A simple steam
Using the steam from clean water is another way to unclog and minimise those pores. Simply heat up some water, place it in a bowl, and hover over it so you can get the full benefits (make sure you clean your face first with a cleanser, though). Once done, just splash cold water on your face. You’ll feel the effects instantly.
Other cures include rose water, baking soda, oatmeal, lemons, and apple cider vinegar – just choose a remedy that works for you, and watch your skin transform and glow.
